It’s Okay If You Haven’t Taken Down Your Christmas Decors

Am I judging you? Only just a tiny bit. I only just recently deleted my Christmas playlist, so please take your time.

Happy new year people! I’m the kind of person who would still say ‘happy new year’ in September if that’s the first time I’m seeing you that year, because why not?

As much as I don’t want to, I’m usually quite optimistic and full of hope at the start of the new year: new year resolutions, vision boards, and such; I’m into all of that. An opportunity to start afresh? Count me in.

I have come to accept that regardless of how ghetto and unexpected 2020 was, it’s okay to be hopeful for this year. Sometimes, this year just feels like an extension of 2020, but I must admit that the fact that I’m still here and you’re still here is a win. A small one, but not insignificant.

So what have I been up to so far this 2021?

For one, even though it’s already February, it still feels weird saying or writing ‘2021’. Hopefully, by let’s say… August, I should get used to it.

I have to say that it’s quite disappointing that the COVID did not pack up its bags and leave on January 1st like we were all hoping. In fact, it seems to be getting more aggressive in my country, so please don’t forget to wear a mask in public! If you go out and see a friend choosing not to wear a mask, do not hesitate to give them a very dramatic shake of the head and judgmental side-eye.

For a good part of last month, I was working on a project, so it’s been a minute since I saw a show or movie, and I should do something to correct that situation. I read 3 wonderful and very different books in January, and I can’t wait to write about all that.

This year, I shall continue to write while adding some new features to the blog posts. For example, I’ll include a link to a lovely thing I saw on the internet that I think you should see too with each new post. Today’s is this memorable lip-sync performance by Tom Holland, the Spider-Man actor. The number of times I have watched it is too shameful to tell.

How are you? How are your online classes going? Are they a glorious technical disaster, or are they going surprisingly well?

I hope you’re still being kind to yourself and giving yourself time to grow; I hope you don’t forget to be a friend to yourself. I hope that despite all odds, the darkness has not enveloped you, that you have found a way to stay in the light.

Most of all, I hope you’re staying true to yourself and to the things you love and enjoy, no retreat, no surrender. I’m rooting for you.

See you soon!
